American Airlines New Look
American Airlines has new livery; or for those not in the industry. A new paint job. The silver birds of American’s long and storied history will soon be gone. AA’s distinctive look, since even before the days that I wrote about in Project Seven Alpha; American Airlines in Burma 1942, has finally fallen to modernity. Not in graphic design, but in technology.
AA has officially ordered the 787, necessitating a new livery (paint). Why? The 787 is a composite aircraft. The shinny aluminum aircraft will soon follow the radial engine into past. To future generations it will become an instant cue of age. A visual hallmark of the past, like the round piston engines are for our generation.
I have written about the silver birds, I have flown the silver birds: I will miss them.
