$h!t Pilot’s Wives don’t say

I saw this today and laughed out loud. It reminded me of squadron life and how much I miss that special camaraderie; that special sub culture all its own. Usually hidden away from the view of normal society. When I saw it, I knew it was in response to something their knucklehead pilot husbands had done. More on that later.

Most people have no clue what a military wife is like. They think of them as subservient, obedient and dependent on their husbands and the service. A June Cleaver type of proper and boring lady. NOTHING; could be further from reality. They are strong, sexy, independent almost to an extreme; because they are quite used to handling everything from handyman chores to sick babies alone. While their husbands are away on long deployments. In fact, in the Navy when we’d return from cruise, we would get counseled by the Chaplain:

“Remember your wives have been the boss for 6 months; tread lightly…and do what you’re told.”

What I liked best was their sense of humor; they were never politically correct, felt free to “stick it” to the command, but most of all felt obligated to deflate the ego’s of their pain in the ass husbands. A full time job!

As a pilot, especially a fighter pilot; you had to storm into the valley of death everyday knowing you were the baddest dude in that valley. But; you also had to have a little voice in the back of your head reminding you: “Don’t f**k this up.” That little voice kept you alive; for me it was always my wife Laura’s.
