The USS Randolph in WWII and just after; a first hand account
A friend sent me his fathers memoir of his time on-board the USS Randolph. His father was John Testrake, Captain of TWA 847, that was hijacked in 1985. It is a great first hand account of the period just after WWII as well as Randolph’s war cruise.
As I read it I was struck by the many parallels, not just with my books (Project 7 Alpha, Vengeance, End Game) but with my life: from the AD-1 Skyraider that my uncle flew in Viet Nam, to seeing my old ship (USS America) in a ship yard (Philly) from the windscreen of an airliner cockpit (America Airlines). It is a great read; enjoy.
